The mission of the Spirited Volunteer Program is to mobilize students, faculty, and staff as volunteers to help create a more just and compassionate Cedar Valley community. The Spirited Volunteer Program connects bible studies and individuals interested in volunteering with agencies in the community. Two weekends each month we meet to work on a different volunteer project. We also have an action oriented bible study that meets to work on a more specified service project. In addition, each year we give away an award to the most Spirited Volunteer. This is a different type of bible study then you have ever been involved in before. In the first sessions we will talk about service and what the bible says about doing service. In the next couple of sessions we will conduct community research and select a project to work on. Then, during the next sessions we will take action in the community. Finally, we will make recommendations for future action, evaluate the project, and have a celebration of our service.

The Spirited Volunteer Award is given to any individual who has shown any or all of the qualities of justice, mercy, and humbleness. The award is given away at the end of each school year. In April of 2003 the award was given in the form of a 400 dollar scholarship to University Book and Supply.
